Royal Wedding Street Party

On Friday 29th April 2011, the HCP organised a Street Party for the Royal Wedding, open to the whole of Hainault. The event took place on Staggart Green in the heart of Hainault and attracted between 250 and 300 people, as well as the local press and even the Mayor of Redbridge!

The event was kicked off in style by a gospel choir ‘The Sanctuary Fellowship’ from St Paul’s. The facepainters were incredibly popular, as was the competition 'Hainault's Got Talent', co-jugded by Hainault Councillor Ted Griffin.

It was a great team effort, with support and attendance by Redbridge Homes, Hainault Library, Forest Farm Peace Garden, and Link Place. Local business even gave donations and prizes for the competitions.

The Hyneholt Pub screened the Royal Wedding and, at 12.30pm, the Hainault commuunity sat down together for lunch, having brought various dishes along.

The whole day was a great success! We were able to create a welcoming opportunity for the communities of Hainault to socialise, connect and enjoy a shared experience. As well as this, we've forged some valuable relationships with other local organisations and businesses. A special thank you to NISA for prize donations and help on the day and to A & C Fruiterer and J Clark & Sons for food donations.

Crime in Hainault down 7% in last year

Thanks to the efforts of the Hainault Safer Neighbourhood Team, crime in Hainault has fallen by 7% in the last year.

The team, led by Sergeant Keith Rosenwould, has recently moved to the neighbouring Ward of Fairlop and, on behalf of the HCP, we thank them for their hard work and support and wish them all the best for the future.

We welcome the new team, led by Sergeant Stephanie Beirne, and look forward to working closely in the future to improve Hainault.

Redbridge Abundance Project

The Abundance Project is an initiative introduced to try and harvest the
waste of surplus fruit from trees. Hundreds of trees bearing fruit are left unpicked, with wasps attracted to the rotting windfall. The project, through the aid of volunteers, aims to collect the extra fruit in order for it to be used in the production of jams, juice, chutneys and preserves in our community garden.

Local apples needed for Harvest Festival

Calling all Hainault residents!

Do you know of any local apple trees whose fruit usually goes to waste? If so, Forest Farm Peace Garden want to hear from you!

Forest Farm Peace Garden will be celebrating its 7th harvest on October 10th this year. In celebration, they are running an Abundance Project and working with local residents to pick apples and pears in streets, gardens and open spaces that would otherwise go to waste. These will be turned into delicious apple juice and other apple products available on the day.

If you know of any apples or pears going to waste, or want to donate your own, please contact the Garden Coordinator on 07963 762667 or email Information@forestfarmpeacegarden.org
