Kielder Close parking

After months of negotiation between the HCP, the Council and other stakeholders, Kielder Close Day Centre has finally been given planning permission to park its mini-bus on the hard-standing outside.

The Centre had been parking its mini-bus outside the entrance for years, when it was discovered that the area of hard standing was not a formalised parking area. The Day Centre was forced to park further away from the Centre and escort its elderly members across the road and over uneven ground. There have been many months of negotiation to rectify this situation and discussions over replacing the hard standing, which would have been very expensive.

Fortunately, an Officer from the Council’s Highways and Engineering Service recently assessed the area and confirmed that the existing area of hard standing is sufficient for the Day Centre’s mini bus to use. So an application for a Change of Use was submitted and has recently been approved.

A drop-curve has already been installed and the mini-bus is free to park outside the Centre from now on.
